Diabetes affect 1 out of every 20 people in America.
Approximately 5.4 million people have Diabetes and don't even know it.
900,000 people will be diagnosed this year.

TEAM Diabetes is an American Diabetes Association fundraising program, and the adventure of a lifetime.  A marathon is about so much more than the challenge of individual physical endurance.  Join TEAM Diabetes and you will be a part of a group of people pulling together for a shared goal.  Together you will raise funds, encourage each other, get in the best shape of your life, travel to an incredible location and help to save someone else's life.

This is us with the South Florida Team
My motivation and number one fan!  She keeps me running when things get tough.  She can't "quit" her diabetes, so I won't quit either.
We look so fresh before the race - you should have seen us at the finish!

On April 5th, 2000 I was out of town on business.  I received a message that my 5 year old daughter had been admitted into the hospital because she had diabetes.  Only a parent can know what I felt at that moment.

After an adjustment period, I decided that I had to do something.  I couldn't sit back any longer, I had to get involved.  I wanted to do something.  I decided to get involved with the American Diabetes Association's Team Diabetes - a fundraising program that involves marathon running....

No, I had never run a marathon, but this was for my little girl.  I could do one marathon....right?

The Marine Corps Marathon
October 2002
"My life is a gift to me from my creator.  What I do with my life is my gift back to the creator."

Billy Mills, Sioux Indian - 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist
October 2002
I ran the Marine Corps Marathon with 21,000 participants, including 15 of us from Team Diabetes.  This was a memorable experience, with incredible support from the Marines and from supporters along the course.  I recommend this race to anyone considering a marathon.  Most importantly, we raised another $5,300 towards a cure!

January 2002
I ran the Walt Disney World Marathon on January 6, 2002.  There were 18,500 total runners, and over 300 of them were with Team Diabetes.  With this marathon alone, over $1 Million was raised towards a cure!
May 2001
My mother and I ran the Rome City Marathon with 600 runners, including 480 members of Team Diabetes, running to raise money for diabetes research.  It was an absolutely incredible experience.  The finish line was in front of the Coliseum, and we crossed it together, but more importantly, thanks to many of you, we raised $15,000 and Team Diabetes raised $2.2 Million towards a cure!
